Valley Eye Associates’ experienced team of experts specialize in a wide variety of visions correction procedures, so even those patients who may not be candidates for iLASIK may benefit from another procedure that will better suited to their vision.
Refractive Lensectomy with Intraocular Lens Implantation is a procedure designed to reduce or eliminate nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia (need for reading glasses over the age of 40). RL corrects these conditions by removing the lens inside the eye and replacing it with an intraocular lens of different focusing power to allow better vision with less dependence on glasses and contacts – in many cases, this means better vision in the distance, intermediate and close up.
Who is a candidate for RL?
Candidates for RL may experience difficulty wearing glasses or contact lenses and desire less dependence on them. The best candidates tend to be over the age of 50 and using bifocals, have early cataract formation, or whose eyes are outside the effective treatment range for LASIK or other forms of vision correction. RL works particularly well for farsighted patients.
