Throughout his career, Dr. Vrabec’s dedication has been the cornea. Dr. Vrabec completed fellowships in corneal transplantation at the University of Iowa, and for six years he directed the corneal transplant and refractive surgery service at the University of Vermont, earning tenure in 1994. Since then, he has strived to provide the most technologically advanced cornea care available, including performing the first laser-assisted cornea transplant in Wisconsin. Today, we provide a range of treatment for those patients requiring a cornea transplant, and are the only practice with a cornea specialist in the Fox Valley.
There are two main types of corneal transplants available at Valley Eye Associates:
Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK), which is a partial-thickness cornea transplant.
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK), which is a full-thickness cornea transplant. You and your doctor can discuss which procedure is appropriate for you.
