What is ORA?
Valley Eye Associates, always at the forefront of cataract technology, is pleased to offer the advanced ORA System™ to our cataract patients. ORA, or Optiwave™ Refractive Analysis is revolutionary technology used during your cataract procedure, allowing our surgeons to provide you with optimized outcomes. Until recently, any surgeon would have to wait weeks after a cataract surgery to assess surgery accuracy. ORA allows Dr. Vrabec and Dr. Salm to measure surgery accuracy during the procedure, and is fully customized to each patient’s eye.
How does ORA work?
ORA technology is used during your cataract treatment to guide your surgeon and provide optimal visual outcomes. ORA works by directing a beam of low intensity laser light into the eye during your cataract procedure. The laser light reflects off the back of your eye, and sensors analyze the reflected wave of light exiting your eye. This real-time analysis measures your eye’s unique optical characteristics, and gives Dr. Vrabec and Dr. Salm, and their team, an accurate measurement of your eye’s focusing capabilities.
While cataract technology has greatly advanced in recent years, prior to ORA, cataract surgeons were unable to assess the quality of vision during the actual cataract procedure, and would have to wait weeks after procedure to determine the accuracy of the results.
ORA’s real-time measurements allow for true customization of the cataract procedure, with the potential for better results than ever before.
