If you’re over 40 and struggle with the on and off hassle of reading glasses, you understand that having the ability to focus on the everyday details of life without readers can be a huge advantage. We offer the Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay to reduce or eliminate your dependence on reading glasses. With Raindrop®, everyday tasks like using your smartphone or reading a menu without glasses, becomes a reality.
Understanding Changes in Your Vision
Before the age of 40, common refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can blur our vision. As time passes, the natural lens of your eye loses its flexibility, making it difficult to focus on things up-close. This condition is called presbyopia, a natural process of the eye that affects everyone at some point after the age of 40. Because of the increasing blurred vision up-close, we will eventually need reading glasses, bifocals or monovision contact lenses to see near and far objects.
What is Raindrop®?
Raindrop® is a tiny, transparent disk called an inlay that is inserted into the cornea (the clear window of your eye). It is made of a material similar to soft contact lenses and is approximately 80% water. During this quick 10-minute procedure, you will be awake and comfortable. Noticeable improvement in your near vision is noticed in the next few day. Recovery time is rapid, in fact, you can resume most normal activities as soon as the next day!
How Raindrop® Works:
A thin flap is created with an FDA-approved Femtosecond laser (similar to the first step in All-Laser LASIK).
The Raindrop® Inlay is gently placed.
The flap is repositioned and near vision is restored.
