Implantable Contact Lenses

At Valley Eye Associates, we are proud to offer the implantable contact lens (ICL) procedure that can help more patients reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. ICLs are an ideal option for patients who may not qualify or desire LASIK and they provide a wide variety of prescription options for you and your doctor to consider.

ICL is an FDA-approved outpatient procedure designed for extreme myopia (nearsightedness). During the ICL procedure, a tiny lens is placed onto your iris (the structure of the eye that gives it its color) to help your eye focus more clearly at a distance. This is a great treatment option for patients who suffer from nearsightedness (myopia) and want to see things in the distance more clearly without glasses or contacts.

EVO Visian ICL

For patients who need this minimally-invasive procedure, the experts at Valley Eye Associates use the EVO Visian ICL. EVO became our implantable contact lens of choice because of the long track record of excellent patient outcomes it has produced. Those strong outcomes are due in part to Collamer, the proprietary material EVO is made from. Collamer is strong, flexible, and compatible with the eye’s natural biology.

The EVO ICL is also known as a “phakic lens,” meaning that it works with your natural lens to improve your vision. Because it’s placed behind your iris, your implanted lens isn’t visible and stays in place. Patients report that ICLs like EVO cannot be felt.

Recovery after an ICL procedure is very quick, with most patients returning to their daily activities two to three days afterwards.
